Experience one of the most prestigious and recognised companies
in the world. The music of A Thousand and One Nights by Fikret Amirov (1922-
1984), was inspired by the composer’s tours of Iraq, Iran, Turkey, Egypt, Syria,
Morocco, and India in his efforts to capture the Arab culture of music and
sense of rhythm within the ballet. Over two acts, the ballet explores the tales
told by Scheherazade of Sinbad the Sailor and the Roc, Aladdin’s Wonderful
Lamp and Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves. From its first night in 1979, it was a
triumph, described as truly expressing the poetry of the ancient tales in sounds,
movements, and pictures
