Pronounced as Verdi’s most moving opera, Director Andrea De Rosa’s production
combines historical costumes, traditional set design, and video projections depicting
staggeringly beauty views of the Ligurian Sea. Valery Gergiev, the acclaimed Artistic and
General Director of the Mariinksy Theatre, will make a now rare appearance as conductor.
Simon Boccanegra is a gripping story of a decades-long feud between enemies bound
together by the strongest of family ties. Premiered in 1857, Verdi revised the opera in
1881, crafting a drama of love, loss, and reconciliation.
