girl who was abandoned at birth and raised by a regiment of soldiers. Claimed as
the long-lost niece of a passing Marquise, the rags to riches tale is upset by Marie’s
love for an enemy soldier, and her attachment to the men she calls her fathers.
Donizetti's most successful comic opera is packed with infectious melodies and
fizzing wit, making it a delightful treat to watch. Directed by Jean Louis Grinda,
starring Jessica Pratt, Veronica Simeoni, Antonino Siragusa, and Omar Montanari,
with the Arcangelo Corelli Orchestra conducted by Antonello Allemandi.
