Le Nozze di Figaro, is an opera by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart based on Pierre Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais play Le Mariage de Figaro, which remains a
favourite in the operatic repertoire. At the premiere in Vienna it was an immense
success. Its bubbling overture, its brilliantly crafted arias (which give insights into
the personalities of the characters who sing them) and its lively ensemble scenes
won the hearts of all who witnessed it. Worldwide acclaimed director Giorgio
Strehler, Franca Squarciapino’s ravishing costumes and Ezio Frigerio’s wonderful
set designs add to the amazing beauty on stage of this historical production of the
Teatro alla Scala Milan conducted by Sesto Quatrini
