After the stunning success of Caracalla’s spectacular musical Kan Ya Ma Kan at the ROHM in 2013 the Company returns with Sailing through Time, a new production themed on travels across lands of the ancient world, with a rich and ever-changing array of costume and dance. The Company was founded in 1970 by Abdel Halim Caracalla who studied in New York with the famous choreographer Martha Graham in the 1960s and continues to be Artistic Director of the Company, while his daughter Alissar and his son Ivan serve respectively as Choreographer and Director of the Company.
Recognised as the leading dance company in the Middle East, Caracalla’s international debut took place at the Festival of Osaka in Japan in 1972. Since then Caracalla has traveled abroad extensively, particularly in North America and Europe. Caracalla is distinguished as an important dance company which has created a new language in dance, merging European and Oriental techniques in order to build bridges between East and West.
