THE ROYAL OPERA HOUSE MUSCAT PRESENTS LUCERO TENA QUEEN OF CASTANETS

The remarkable castanet virtuosa, Lucero Tena, a former flamenco dancer, has performed as a solo castanetist in prestigious venues on five continents. She regularly appears with renowned orchestras such as the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre du Capitole of Toulouse, Lyon Symphony Orchestra, Bayerischer Rundfunk of Munich, and the Spanish National Orchestra.

Lucero Tena is credited with having made the castanet a solo instrument in orchestral music. She demonstrates an incredible virtuosity which is both mesmerizing and exciting. Tena has performed as soloist under the baton of illustrious conductors such as Loren Maazel, Mstislazv Rostropovich, Rafael Frübeck de Burgos, Franz-Paul Decker, Miguel Ángel Gómez Martínez, and Peter Guth, among others. The concert at the Royal Opera House Muscat will be conducted by the brilliant young Spanish director, Óliver Díaz.

As a special feature, the concert will include performances by the phenomenally talented violinist, Andrea Giovanni Zanon, who, at the age of twenty, has already won more than thirty awards. This very special concert will be held on one night only - Thursday 21st February at 7:00 pm.
