A spectacular new iteration of the acclaimed Swan Lake brilliantly choreographed and flawlessly performed, this show features mixed aesthetics of the ancient Orient and the West, and promises to be one of the most thrilling and awe-inspiring productions of the season. Swan Lake is a classical ballet to music by Tchaikovsky, but in this version from the Xi’an Acrobatic Troupe of China, stunning acrobatics integrated with elegant ballet retell the beloved story of the beautiful princess cursed by the evil nobleman and condemned to life lived as a mute but graceful swan, only to be offered the chance of freedom with the declaration of true love from a foreign prince.

Maria Callas, the greatest soprano of her time, has her legacy presented in concert with the leading voices of today. LA BOHEME

Returning to the Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) stage, Puccini’s famously poignant opera brings to life a beautiful love story set in the Latin quarter of Paris. Rodolfo, a young writer, and Mimì, a seamstress, are captivated by ‘love at first sight’, but the smooth path of true love is battered by crippling poverty and illness. This beautifully staged co-production between ROHM and Opéra de Monte Carlo will be directed by Jean-Louis Grinda with Mariangela Sicilia as Mimì, Liparit Avetisyan as Rodolfo, Hasmik Torosyan as Musetta, Semen Antakov as Marcello and Riccardo Zanellato as Colline. Returning to ROHM is the immensely talented composer, Leonardo Sini, who will be conducting the Orchestra Filarmonica Italiana. Pre-performance talk one hour prior to the show. Cairo Opera brings us a dazzling theatrical dance based on the most famous story in Arab history, the ancient tale of Sheherazade in 1001 Nights. The beautiful Scheherazade, the young new wife of the King, averts her execution with brilliant and entrancing stories told over the course of 1001 nights. Each night she leaves the King eager to hear the next instalment, thus buying herself another day of life. With music and interpretation based upon the original Rimsky Korsakov’s Famous Piece, the Modern Dance Company blends traditional and modern choreography, and costumes, to refresh this timeless tale. Directed by Walid Aouni, this is an exciting show which will appeal to a cross generational audience.
