THE MOTH PRINCESS

performed by Teatro Sociale di Como AsLiCo

Designed for school children and families, this interactive opera was inspired by Turandot, Giacomo Puccini’s great masterpiece. The Moth Princess will be performed by Teatro Sociale di Como AsLiCo, who brought ROHM the tremendously successful interactive operatic show, Magic Flute for Children or Defeating the Monsters. Children participating from their seats in the audience will use props and sing in Italian, Arabic and English. Puccini’s score is interpreted by Teatro Sociale di Como AsLiCo’s Orchestra 1813, conducted by Alessandro Palumbo. Imprisoned in her cocoon, the Moth Princess represents Turandot who is trapped by her vengeful hatred of men. Through the love of Prince Calaf, the humanity of his father and the sacrificial goodness of the slave, Liù, the Moth Princess will emerge as a butterfly.
